This is a long review, so TL;DR - Terrible game, worse than a copy and paste where they did not copy and paste. Made for Youtubers. I have played NBA 2k since 2k10 (was playing live before that) and this game is the worst game to date period. While a lot of reviews make it seem like it is a copy and paste of 2k20, I WISH it was a copy and paste from 2k20. 2k20 seemed a tad broken at times, but overall was a good game that I could fairly easily dominate at. I've been playing for over a decade, so I am usually great at 2k and give it a positive review, despite others. This year the game is SOOO much worse gameplay wise. The menus and stuff are basically a copy and paste, yes, but the gameplay is garbage. I feel like they tried to make it more realistic this year, especially in terms of shooting and dribble animations. While that seems like a good thing, if you are shooting 33% from the 3 pointer, you are going to lose to people who do not shoot 3s. To make matters worse, WHAT IS THAT SHOT METER?!? You cannot change the shot meter and it is awful... I would hope they update it so that you can, but it is 2k, they do not update their game, and if they do, they will take a full year and sell it as 2k22. Shooting this year just seems like something to avoid at all costs (which is already a big problem), especially on high difficulties. Which brings me to my next point. WHY MAKE MYTEAM DOMINATION START ON HALL OF FAME? This year's game is the least casual player friendly ever. I feel like they made this game by watching youtubers from early 2k20 destroy the all-star CPU and thought they were the normal player base. I got the game earlier than usual because normally Domination is a grind. An easy grind, but a grind none-the-less. I got 2k20 with gamepass in early January, and felt I missed the grinding window for domination because rewards were better elsewhere. This year, scoring is broken. If you have someone near you whatsoever you will miss. Before, contested layups could still go in if you were not smothered. This year, if you have 30%+ contest, 100% miss. Shooting is broken from outside so the only way to score is in the paint which is also broken. I went from winning games easily last year to getting beat 21-4 in triple threat because all people do is offball with a center in the post. The game is very lazy as well. From missed typos to content that makes 0 sense, it seems like they put no thought, time, or effort into the game and play checking it. A new feature they released called "The exchange" seems very cool and exciting... Until you realize how useless it is. One example is the Deluxe League Pack. You put 15 bronze players in to get 1 pack. Bronze players quick sell for 400 MT, the packs are 6000 MT. If the exchange didn't exist, you could still turn 15 bronze players into 1 Deluxe League Pack. (In fact you can sell Bronze players for the auction house minimum of 500 MT (450 after tax) and make 6750 MT so you are losing MT by using this new feature). Again I think this was made for youtubers who make a living off this and spend hundreds on packs. So far MyCareer seems to be the saving grace for the game, but at the same time, it is not much different from 2k20. Basically every mode you control 5 people in, is much worse than 2k20. Do not get this game. Do not give 2k your money. Do not let them think this is ok.
