As an avid reader of all the books I couldn’t help but notice a nod to “You Only Live Twice” Again, the novel not the movie. There are two key “references”. It was the last of the Blofeld “trilogy” - “Thunderball” and “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” being the first two - and Blofeld was indeed choked to death by Bond. The second reference was the poison garden. In the novel Blofeld had constructed a garden of poisonous plants, reptiles and other deadly items. That Safin has one as well is too coincidental. But I’m not complaining. Previous films have done this before and I appreciate the writers incorporating these little jewels Fleming created into the films. Craig puts a great bookend to these five films and they certainly stand up to Connery’s first three.
