I was enjoying this documentary until the end of the second episode. Everything was being presented in a linear narrative and in a cogent and seemingly factual manner. All is well. But suddenly a shift...we're in the 1950' talking about Joe McCarthy and the Red Scare and communists etc. Roy Cohn is mentioned as the lawyer who became the chief counsel to the disgraced senator McCarthy during the Army—McCarthy hearings. And then a bizarre segue: We're focused on Cohn and then we are suddenly talking about Donald Trump and the fact that Trump's father once hired Cohn to be a business advisor to the young up and coming real estate mogul. The camera closes in on Trump and Cohn, the background music ominous. Next shot has one of the program's historians immediately explaining the connection between "demagogues" and the threat they pose to a nuclear Holocaust. The implication of course being that Trump is a demagogue and if re-elected, will instigate a nuclear war. Really? I mean, the documentary is entitled. "Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War." And suddenly we're talking about Donald Trump? Oh that's right. It's an election year. I had to literally laugh out loud. They may as well have mentioned China and Joe and Hunter Biden. It's like a completely wedged in, out of context, non sequitur. The episode simply ends and we're on to the next one. I'm not a fan of Trump nor a supporter but man, this reeks of bias and calls into question the credibility and intent of its producers. It seems Hollywood just can't help it.
