Amazing art, great characters, and a great premise, but is too cryptic for its own good and consistently fumbles when broaching heavy subjects. Would've still been 4 stars but the ending was so tasteless it's honestly deeply offensive. The first 6 episodes were good enough that I think they can redeem themselves in future seasons, but I'm not interested after the finale. I simply don't have faith in the writers after such a hackneyed execution of a really delicate subject. ***SPOILERS*** The payoff to the whole season is our protagonist getting suddenly and brutally r***d by a family friend and says he did it to their sister too. The writers then decide that right after this is a perfect time for the other protag to confess his romantic feelings and it feels very gross and overly saccharine for the brutality that precedes it. And here I was ecstatic to have a scarred-up female (presenting) lead in the post apocalypse WITHOUT a gratuitous backstory of SA.

Pretentious elevator music from what was once the decade's most exciting rock act. Horribly droll with incredibly masturbatory songwriting that doesn't actually manage to say anything profound. They learned all the wrong lessons from AM and now it's all a vanity act for Alex Turner. Gone are the days where the rest of the band gets to shine, now they're just a run-of-the-mill lounge band playing the musical equivalent of white noise. Alex Turner needs to go solo if he no longer wants to share the spotlight with a band. Horribly boring album that thinks it's much smarter than it is. The positive reception is baffling to me, I have zero interest in ever listening to this self-important drivel again.
