A one-volume history of the United States isn't easy. Especially during our current times when different ideologies have a different revisionist view of our past and how to present it. She does a great job at presenting the truth without repeating false narratives or leaving ugly history out because of how ugly it is. You can still be proud of your country and love it while acknowledging that it still hasnt lived up to it's original idelals in the Declaration of Independence, hince the title of the book and why I love it so much. Her words even come across as poetry at times and don't let the size of it intimidate you. It's hard to put down and will be finished before you know it.
