Ready to be scared and schooled?
My takeaway: Not only is it based on a true story, I saw symbolism throughout. Many parents (or non parents) are battling hell to save their children/themselves from whatever seeks to destroy them. I wont list; we know what they are. This often feels like a single handed losing battle. Lee Daniels' movie reminds us Who to call on within these battles to win.
At the end of the story, clearly the film's children were pleased with the idea of reconstruction of the family. I was too! I believe that was the only time I'd seen the children smiling and at peace. So those were two more miracles.
I couldn't believe there were so many negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Who cares about cinematic critic jargon. This movie produced an urgent message, in a changing time most of us have not been accustomed. Perhaps these critics can't connect because they haven't seen or been in a life battle that required Supernatural help (I'm talking about miraculous change to a seemingly hopeless situation). They should consider themselves lucky - or should they?
Because we all either have or will face at least one episode of pivotal adversity.
