[Non-Spoiler review]
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a series unlike any other, with each season actually being different story arcs with its own genre. Since it was written in 1987 starting with part 1 to Part 9 which is still currently ongoing (2024), you may find some of these stories/styling/abilities/ personalities/jokes familiar or seen it in other animes. It was only after watching/ reading the entirety of the series that I realized the inspiration it had on other mangaka. Some of the series that have been inspired by JoJo's would be Hunter x Hunter, Persona, Bungou Stray Dogs, My Hero Academia, Ajin, Toriko, S-CRY-ED, Shaman King, Yu-Gi-Oh, and many more. As of how influential this manga has been, it's best to see where it all began.
Part 1: Phantom Blood is more of a Shakespearan tale, it's a short part within the anime but the story beats hit along with fantastic music and OST. The art style compliments each part Respectfully and is faithful to how it was drawn back in 1987.
Part 2: Battle Tendency is an adventure with a bizarre goal for the protagonist. A classic saving the world from other worldly beings. The music and OST is very unique and puts a new perspective on this tale. The animation and humor is on point as things unfold in an absurd adventure.
Part 3: Stardust Crusaders is an around the world in 80 days adventure story where the protagonist is unwillingly set off to travel to save their family while unintentionally saving the world from a familiar face. The power system has changed into a bizarre system following a specific set of cards as well as keeping the old power system as a previous character carries over into this story arc. The music and OST fit each situation perfectly as well as the final confrontation with the animation is on point. This part is focused on an episodic adventure as the mangaka (Hirohiko Araki) simply refused to do the stereotypical tournament arc even when peered pressured from his editor.
Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable is a mystery story set within a small town in Japan, focusing on the town as if you could visit and explore it yourself. Don't let the sweet innocent vibes fool you as there is a darkness undertaking the town. With music and OST complementing the town and it's characters while also having it's unnerving and scary moments captured perfectly. The animation is faithful to manga as it puts up a sweet and upbeat display while the dark slowly creeps it's way into the story.
Part 5: Golden Wind takes a bizarre spin on things in Italy, exploring some of the more popular attractions Italy has to offer while climbing the ranks in an underground organization. This protagonist will surely make you hype with his own OST as well as the nice Italian music and OST throughout the story.
Part 6: Stone Ocean is when the grand culmination of previous parts start piecing themselves together. The consequences of actions in previous parts have come back in this arc where we literally need to break the chains of confinement before an angels heaven arrives. God tier OST and music along with the climax of the over arching story will make this a bizarre adventure appear in a roundabout way. The animation is solid with an engaging story that will surely bring a tear down your face.
Hopefully this bring to light why this series has been very unique and worthwhile to enjoy and understand this bizarre world. Hopefully by the time newcomers finish the series, the new Part 7: Steel Ball Run will be animated and airing as we see the point where the series switches from Shonen to Seinen.
