oh my gosh this book had me on the edge. of. my. seat. it was amazing! i loved the characters and just when i thought i had it figured out, she surprised me. a lot of people complain about cliffhangers- it doesn’t really bother me that much because one- that’s how natasha preston writes. i feel like the cliffhanger with the easy inference on what happens is her signature and two- you can easily guess what happens and honestly i love the unhappy ending vibe where you don’t know if the bad guy gets caught and chances are, they don’t. this is my second natasha preston book and i’m genuinely loving them. i’ve finally found an author that makes me want to keep coming back to the story.

one of my favorite books ever! first of all, i think it really leans on don’t judge a book by a cover, but sometimes the cover is right. SPOILERS Bradley- he looks gorgeous and gia really liked him but then he breaks up with her the night of prom hayden- he’s wearing glasses in the parking lot and comes back looking fantastic jules- a complete jerk, but you understand how she has her mom problems and then there’s gia. gia looks like a popular self absorbed girl and she is. at the beginning, at least. i love the character development and how gia starts to stand up for bec. i love the romance and the chemistry between hayden and gia. i love especially how it shows that it’s okay to grow and as you grow, grow away from your friends. sometimes the people you are with are good for you at the time, but eventually, you have to move on. laney, claire, and jules were gias high school friends and they were good friends for high school. but, once gia grew and learned that she was the definition of a popular girl- self absorbed, social media obsessed- she had to leave them behind because jules had convinced them to stay those stereotypical popular girls while gia moved on to be with hayden and bec who were better for her. i love how gia grows on bec, first hating gia but learning to love her. i love how bec cares so much for hayden and recognizes that eve wasn’t good for him. i love most of all how hayden was just a sweet guy overall and did so much for gia. i like how when gias brother realized how much he hurt her, he tried to make up for it by bringing bradley back. although it didn’t end well, he was trying. overall this is an amazing book and i definitely recommend.

i absolutely adored this book- it’s one of my favorite books ever. if you want to read it, i would warn you, it’s very sexual and suicide centered. if you aren’t comfortable with that don’t read it. you will get very invested in the story and the characters. i was so so so heartbroken in many moments- no spoilers but i definitely cried a lot. i honestly feel like it doesn’t have to be a whole series. i was satisfied with the first book and i’m not extremely curious to read the rest, but i’m sure it’s good because suzanne young is a fantastic author from what i’ve seen. would definitely recommend.

SPOILERS i really enjoyed the book overall- i was always on the edge of my seat and wanted to keep reading. personally, i’m easily spooked, so it didn’t help my experience that i felt like someone was watching me because someone was watching them, but i do think that reflects well on natasha preston’s writing and how it’s descriptive and feels very real. it is it a bit slow- i restarted multiple times because after something big would happen it would feel like just mush. it gets very intense in the last chapters until it gets to the somewhat cliffhanger- you don’t really have to inference much, but i do wish we had an epilogue. i was a bit annoyed at how it ended because SPOILER almost everyone dies and the killer gets away with it. i am a justice girly and i really liked olly. i did notice preston’s ability to make you feel. this isn’t like sympathetic for me, but oh my gosh she made me hate kayla so much. she was a horrible friend then took lillian’s side and still got shot. i understand she has trauma from the childhood crash but still- that isn’t an excuse for being a horrible person overall. overall i enjoyed this book and i am interested in some more of her work.
