This has now become the norm with Ridley Scott and he delivers again with his mistimed scenes and rushed story-telling.
Unnecessary and baseless scenes have more screen time than an actually coherent screenplay.
The scenes and stories develop without it giving room to breathe. The scenes are so patchy that you kind of lose interest in what is going on as a whole.
Denzel Washington’s role was completely misrepresented in the beginning and just suddenly rises to the top for no reason whatsoever, just because he “bought” or found a good gladiator. That is not how you get to sit behind the emperor bruv.
Plot armor was THICK with this one.
If you can connect to the protagonist, please let me know because even though the actor tried so very hard to be impactful, the story felt so rushed I couldn’t breathe.
The only character I had any form of sympathy for was Pedro Pascal and that too relies heavily on his acting chops.
And someone, for the love of god, get that mother off screen. She just magically finds out about her son now and tries to reconnect. She doesn’t know how to cry either.
Also why do all women in Lucius’ life die the same way? 🤣
Can’t remember the last time Ridley Scott made a good movie.
Garbage.
Almost certain he will release a “director’s cut” to this movie and blame it on others for its tank.
