Having gone into this book with zero expectations; I must say that it stunned me in ways I could not have anticipated, such as me having to physically put down my book for a moment in order to comprehend specific parts I had just read.
I’ve never actually been brought to tears before by a book; frankly I never understood how captivated you’d have to be to ‘cry’ over one, however, Hosseini’s ability to do so through his carefully crafted words and usage of particular language all while making you feel apart of the pain, to then happiness or sadness that the characters would go through is beyond me.
I felt like I was there with the characters at times, and was watching their lives unfold in front of me with clear views of their living condition’s as well as faces and their demeanours, leaving me to question what could have happened before they were shown to me, in order to understand their behaviour. At times I’d had to take a break from reading to make sure to eat my food and not let it go cold before I’d continued with the book, lol, and with that, I was upset over the idea that I’d even finished the book and would never get to experience the thrill of reading it for the first time again.
Back to the review though; you’d think with all the positive I’d given that I’d rate it 5/5 ⭐️’s yet I still feel that there were particular elements that lowered my rating to a 4 (which I wish I could set as a 4 & a 1/2 stars) such the somewhat repetitive points that I feel maybe weren’t needed as they had already been fully expressed and there being a few other here and there elements, but overall, I believe that this book deserves significant praise and recognition in addition to what it already has received.
