Second 2021 album from the one and only Lana Del Rey almost feels like a sequel to Chemtrails over the Country Club in term of how personal this felt like. I think the difference is while COCC is more about her and her friends, Blue Banisters is more about family and her more personal stuff. I feel like the songs can be split into 3 groups:
#1 Blue Banisters, Text Book, Wildflower Wildfire, Sweet Carolina.
In my opinion, these songs are the ones about her personal stuff. I'm really happy that she felt comfortable sharing really personal stuff like her relationship with her mother, her life in the past year, etc. Also Sweet Carolina is literally her sweetest and best closing song, it feels like a warm hug, perfect for closing an album.
#2 Arcadia, Black Bathing Suit, Beautiful, Violets for Roses, If You Lie Down with Me.
These are what I like to call positivity songs. The lyrics really make you feel positive about your body, and basically about being a woman in general. I know that If You Lie Down with Me kinda doesn't fit the description above, but I feel like the vibe still matches this group.
#3 Dealer, Nectar of the Gods, Thunder, Living Legend, Cherry Blossom.
These are the unreleased songs, I'm glad that they are finally released officially even though I think there are many other songs that deserve to be released more. My personal favorite here is Nectar of the Gods. Also I'm really happy that Dealer gets the recognition it deserves.
Also, I didn't put Interlude anywhere because I think it doesn't really fit the rest of the album which kinda renders the album messy, and I think that's also because I'm under the impression that she rushes this album after COCC. But, somehow I like it for what it is, the messiness actually making it more fun to listen without shuffling/skipping tracks. It feels like the perfect mix of UV, LFL, and COCC. All in all, another work of art from Miss Lana Del Rey 5/5.
P.S: A little thing that kinda bugs me is the title track placement because it breaks the #1 #2 pattern from the previous albums (BTD #1, UV #2, HM#1, LFL #2, etc). According to the pattern, BB's title track should be the #1 track, but idk maybe she has a reason for that, so it's okay.
