Where are the Emmy noms seriously? Honestly wasn't expecying this good of a performance from Penn Badgley. He's always good but this is his best. Some faces are very familiar and really added to the show. The writing is amazing. It's an original and authentic show with a few cliche aspects but you get the witty and sometimes even funny moments when you have such a dark story. It definitely falls into the thriller genre but a lot more than that. The characters are all really given depth with their back stories that complicate an already interesting plot. It puts a spotlight on issues but it's not in your face at all like other shows. It's subtle enough to keep the story line going. The writing in this is seamless. You're watching and listening intensely. There are new characters that become so integral. They are introduced and end up being a huge part of the past which answer questions but still add even more suspense. Usually only the actors get credit but the entire production gave us this gem. Even the camera angles had it's own part somehow. The effort into the editing is noticeable. Each scene was so perfectly detailed. This show is more than deserving of a second season. After the ups and downs in all that I've seen, I'm thrilled for next season.
