Secrets of Dumbledore
For Potterheads, the backstory of the first dark wizard and how Dumbledore came to be unequal and champion of the wizarding world is absolutely important in the narratives.
For movie-goers, the film lacked that potent and unmistakable strength like in The Order of the Phoenix and The Half-blood Prince movies. Dumbledore is best portayed in those two movies and I was expecting nothing less. Jude Law is a little too happy for a character such as Dumbledore. The film ultimately tried to take a step back from the emotional roller coaster as seen in the Order of the Phoenix and The Half-blood Prince but that is where the movie failed - it is expected that the backstory will confront Dumbledore’s past and it should have that same grits such as seen in the Half-blood Prince but what we had was few seconds of Grindelwald reminding Dumbledore of their relationship and an afterthought line “who will love you now”.
We all know that Grindelwald will not die in any of the fights he had with anyone including Dumbledore. He will be imprisoned in Nurmengard so I am just wondering when will Fantastic Beast deal with that emotional baggage between Grindelwald and Dumbledore. It could be too late and too late to change the actors - I don’t feel that deep emotional connection between the characters portrayed by Jude and Mads. I don’t know if wizards suit them.
