Unoriginal: script, costuming Uninspired: acting Too many competing storylines mean characters and plot were poorly developed. I love Winona Ryder, but her range in this movie was surprisingly narrow. She had two great facial expressions - and used them in every single scene, it was almost a sight gag. I adore Catherine O’Hara but for some bizarre reason even her razor sharp humor was off. Jenna Ortega was…Jenna Ortega. Anyone can play an annoyed and disrespectful teen, and that’s as deep as her performances get. Justin Theroux was the best, I loved how he brought his character to life. Unfortunately, there was zero chemistry with Winona who basically entered and exited every scene like a wooden puppet. Such a shame because in Beetlejuice I her acting truly carried the movie. Girl, what happened?? I could go on but won’t. Just another Hollywood franchise money grab that regurgitates old content without much effort to add something new and inspiring. Please don’t make a third.
