It was a good show until they killed off Tom. I just couldn't bring myself interested in it anymore, especially after all they spent so much time building their relationship, and turning Tom into a character you hated to into you loved into one that gets killed and leaves behind Liz to raise a child on her own. It would just be nice to see a series actually have a different turn of events..one that's positive. It's just too similar to so many other crime/detective shows without that aspect now and quite depressing.
