The convoluted and totally unoriginal plot line in The Mother gives hackneyed old tropes a bad name. A lot of talented performers who must have badly needed a payday came along for the ride. If you have 115 minutes to kill use it to scrub some floors, or do anything else, instead of spending nearly 2 hours asking yourself why on God's green earth do movies like this get made.
