I love it. Of course it can’t beat the original Avatar, but it gives me enough of a connection to it, with a completely different story, that is interesting and entertaining. It took some getting used to, but once I got over the fact that I wouldn’t be spending much time with Aang and the original crew, and accepted that I wouldn’t get to see a character arc quite as compelling as prince Zuko’s, I really enjoyed it. Korra who is a rambunctious teen, and unlike Aang, has great bending (except air) and fighting skills from a young age. This story is less about Korra mastering each element, but finding how to fine tune skills that were already there, have a deep connection with the spirit world, and use the knowledge that she gains from masters about different types of bending styles, to change the way her power is utilized. Her training is adapted specifically for her so that she can do what Avatars are born to do: keep balance. If you are looking for another Aang story or compare it too much to the original, you will be disappointed, but it is worth giving a chance!
