When it comes to a RPG story driven game, I feel like no matter how beautiful it looks, no matter how the great game play is, if the story isn’t there, if that emotional connection that drives players to play isn’t there, it isn’t a good game. For me, I reached this point around the 2-3 hr point at that one scene that I “personally” felt was very weak scene. Sadly it only got worse
It seems like ND forgot the core themes of the first game, instead of having the bitter sweet feeling, Ellie instead falls down a revenge plot akin to a rabbit hole.
Slight spoiler now
The ending of the game made me feel like the entire game was pointless, like it had no meaning, and I understand that in this setting that happy endings are not guaranteed, but this ending felt like hollow shell of the former game. After all Ellie has been through, (
major spoiler) she’s alone again, no Joel ,no family, she is utterly alone in the world.
The game is extremely violent, especially against minorities, i can handle violence, but several scenes seemed so over the top. And since the ending is so hollow, it made all of the violence utterly pointless.
All In all: the story is over the top violent, and the weak plot and ending make it all basically worthless. I’m trying to remain as spoiler free as possible but I seriously question the majority of choices made in this game, def re-consider buying this game of violence against minorities disturbed you. (Especially violence against people that are Jewish, LGBT or POC)
