This is a drama that is fun because it’s so over-the-top and suspenseful. None of the subtle dialogue, humor, and character development that Charles Dickens or Jane Austen offer.
Some themes are so repetitive they made me laugh—Mr. Thornton looking scornfully upon everyone for long stretches of time, Mr Thornton and Margaret gazing at each other with ambiguous expressions for long periods of time, both of them arguing about the same thing over and over.
I thought all the actors did an excellent job, just the directing and dialogue could’ve been more nuanced.
