Whomever writes abt teens really needs a reality check. The whole, “I’m angry & need to be rude,” gets old. The teen was so unbearably written that it really pulls u away from the storyline. U watch her just be a B to Jen’s character and without a spine, the adults just allow her to be this entitled monster with no repercussions. The other issue is that, any teen today would be able to google and do deep dives with their cell but none was utilized so it would’ve been better if they told us this was 2006 or something to justify this huge mistake.
The casting was great with the exception of the Asian boyfriend whom my hubs thought was in college when I said- why is she dating some old guy. Being half Asian myself, we have more of an eye to age especially in our own culture. He may appear young to a lot but to me, he looked like a creepy guy & every scene made me cringe. While my hubs didn’t find him as old as I did, he was shocked to learn they made him a HS student.
The forced diversity was also apparent. U have the black lesbian BFF, the Hispanic agent who came off creepy, and the Asian bf. We just needed a trans gay couple and they hit their quota. As a mixed woman, it’s kind of insulting since my in-law has her art in the Smithsonian & I think I’m the darkest shade in any of her circle… and we primarily stay in San Fran. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the actors it’s just very apparent. The script could’ve been written waaayyy better to increase the thrill and the stupidity should have been written out. Leaving a bag of money with no security cameras while ur in the middle of a very creepy, scary, mysterious issue is just dumb. I mean DUMB.
