I love, love, love this movie. Great acting is what really pulls this movie into a wonderful, worthwhile 1 1/2 hours. Patrick Wilson's performance is nothing less than amazing. He really makes you believe in humanity and family, even though "the world has turned it's back on him." Halle Berry portrays the Deputy Director of NASA and demonstrates her chops on the difficulties of leadership while showing that one person with determination can turn the tide. John Bradley does a brilliant job depicting a severely, socially-challenged yet brilliant mathematician. He seriously makes you love this character.
I like how the director, Roland Emmerich, let's us see the imperfections and flaws of each character. I found myself wanting to "fix" this or that, "please talk to your son", "don't turn the helicopter that way, you idiot", etc.
The story line is great and moves quickly, but makes you feel like you absolutely want to watch the pieces that were left, figuratively speaking, on the cutting room floor. I need to see what's behind that curtain!
Great disaster shows all require that we leave reality at the door so director's can tell the story in an appropriate amount of time. No different here. People are so picky and judgmental!
Hey, watch this movie. You'll have a great time. Love, Ruby
