Decent movie, nothing incredibly new but they absolutely nailed the Florida aesthetic both in setting and cinematography but as well as the people. 68 year old women making skin creams, ratty looking "doctors' offices", and of course the plague of opioid addiction that stemmed from the Florida Pill Mills of the aughts and early 10s.
Emily Blunt is incredible, Chris Evans is great, and Catherine O'Hara is wonderful yet underused. Yes this follows a predictable plot that can be seen miles away and maybe that is why it gets a 22% among critics but it is well written and truly understands the subject its talking about. This is not Dopesick or the numerous other darker and depressing takes on the subject matter and its better for it.
