Our family has absolutely loved Rock the Block since it's inception, but this year was a different story.
First of all, we feel some of the judging was WAY off. Supposedly the judge(s) are looking at value-added as well as craftsmanship, not personal preference. We all feel that the judges should go into the viewings blind, meaning not knowing what designers have done which house. Secondly, there shouldn't be "ties" if only one team is supposed to win each week. We think that is a crock and a cop-out. Lastly, please don't ever ask Kristina Crestin back as a judge. All of us watching together and everyone I've spoken to that we know watches this show had the same opinion in that she is a terrible judge. Nearly all of her comments involved her preference and had nothing to do with craftsmanship and value.
We love seeing all of the designer's takes on their houses and styling and how absolutely stunning each one turns out. It was the unanimous opinion that each home was gorgeous, but we all felt Keith and Evan got ripped off and should have definitely won the creative challenge when they designed their meditation room/bedroom as well as the entire thing. Yes, Leslie and Lyndsay's house was lovely and unique and definitely added value with their solar panels, etc. but what about Keith and Evan's additional bedrooms and bath? Not to mention all of the high-end finishes? We are very disappointed and have decided that if the judging system doesn't change in the future we will not be watching.
