Great Expecations... not.
Charles Dickens would be horrified at this travesty of one of his greatest books.
The F word is blown about like confetti, and sex, violence and drug abuse reign. Oh, how the BBC has fallen after such greats as Bleak House and Little Dorrit, so much truer in spirit, characterization and period detail.
Diversity is here with a capital D and has been included to tick all of those boxes but is just another unnecessary distraction.
Stuck with it for the first episode and 3/4 of the second before deleting this abombination of a classic masterpiece.
Dickens was a master of character, pathos, nuance and ultimately hope and redemption, unfortunately this adaptation has none.
