This “woke” addition to the Batman movies was, in my humble opinion, the most horrible yet. I understand a lot of people liked this movie and my only guess is that it’s because they aren’t real Batman fans. Robert Pattinson is far better suited to play Nightwing instead of Bruce Wayne/Batman. I will pause here to say that I did enjoy that the movie put some focus on Batman’s detective skills as this was one of his main talents in comics. That and the role of Penguin played by Colin Ferrell was great. That is the last compliment I have for this movie. The emo portrayal of Bruce Wayne came off as a little whiny brat that I could barely stomach enough to finish the movie. Bruce Wayne was headstrong, confident and not to mention, much more heroic looking than a scrawny Pattinson. He just did not fit the look of Batman and I never thought I would say this but Affleck wore it better.
The costume design made Pattinson look like an anime movie version of Batman which further degraded the once awesome presence of Batman. It was so underwhelming that I was depressed through the whole movie.
People kept saying how they enjoyed how much more realistic they made this Batman and all I have to say to that is, if you’re looking for realism in a movie about a man who dresses as a bat to fight crime you might need to check yourself. Batman is supposed to flirt with the idea of anyone can become Batman but also understand that he is an unattainable reality for most people.
They completely missed the “Ninja” Batman. The hiding in the shadows, appearing from nowhere. The guy walked on foot the whole movie and while he said the criminal element feared him, I never saw a shred of evidence of that the entire movie.
This was more about a movie of a detective rather than anything that resembled Batman. Just not good.
