Managed to convince my Girlfriend into watching Luther as shes never seen it before as the trailer for this film made her want to get involved! After so many class episodes and upon finishing the whole series which she loved and finding the characters fun and engaging also we decided its time for the movie… and for us we found it all a bit … meh…. and also why they shifted the whole tone and feel of luther to be more cringe and gritty that the whole series combined as thru the series itself you learn to love him for his faults and realise hes doing what he does for the betterment of everyone to catch lowlifes and scum so as a result you get quite attached to John and his whole character but my girlfriend found watching him waiting to be beaten up by several inmates after telling the policeman to “let them come at me” all a bit stomach churning and a bit much as one man vs the prison scenario john was presented with to us we could see only one outcome… and then the film lost us as we see luther almost become superhero like and go into battle with a prison full of inmates only to come thru with hardly a scrape… and also other parts of the film where he is getting beaten or knifed and at one point very almost drowns and a finale in a mansion like building in the middle of seemingly nowhere where for some reason the main villain has cable speed lightning quick broadband to host a live torture show to the internet…. So while it was still entertaining to watch and yes we did actually make it to the end unlike a lot the reviews i just read lol… it was all way ott and unbelievable to be or feel anywhere or anything like the original and clever stories of the bbc series… please dont do another Netflix!!! If it doe’s return lets make it one more series on the bbc :)
