I wanted to like this movie but because I've cut my teeth on genuine Noir this attempt was as hard to swallow as a soft boiled Ostrich egg and not nearly as delicious. I tried hard to temper my expectations as "today's Hollywood " has struggled to revive this difficult genre. Sure, there are a few exceptions Chinatown the remake of The Postman Always Rings Twice ,Body Heat and Hollywood Confidential but this particular attempt is far from the quality of the aforementioned films. Uninspired acting and patronizing dialogue abounds.

Well written excellently acted drama with more elements than the periodic table. You don't have to like Steve Buscemi but you'll come to love him.
