The critics didn't give good reviews on this movie because they are egotistical condescending snobs that march lockstep to the elite Hollywood liberal drum beat. The movie shows that a young man from an impoverished background can still achieve the American dream by tough family love without the need for government assistance. It breaks the critics stereotype of poor people unable to succeed on their own.
