AHHHHHHHHHHHH...that's how I was screaming internally and bawling my eyes out like a waterfall after watching this show. This is my first time writing a review, and i felt the need to do so because this anime is a masterpiece. It truly saddens me that this anime hasn't received any awards. Banana Fish deserves way more hype, and it is kind of getting it this year through TikTok with the banana fish before and after challenge, which is how I found this anime. It has the basic mafia theme but is extensively rich and incorporates dark and mature themes mostly revolving around sexual harassment. The characters are so layered and its not just a hero villain story. Delves into a lot of mental trauma, which many Animes have done before but this one truly stands out with how grounded in reality it is. The fact that the story of banana fish is something that could happen in the future or is actually happening gave me shivers. This show has made me feel a spectrum of emotions.It somehow inculcates lighthearted fun scenes and suddenly switches to darker ones. The antagonists had my blood boiling that I wanted to kick them to the depths of hell. And don't get me started on the dialogues and their deliveries. There is a quote for everyone from the dialogues in this show. The cliffhangers in this show are one of the steepest, so its perfect to binge watch. Including me this show has left majority of those who have watched it in shock and anger at the ending. In a way I am writing a review to get closure. That's how emotionally invested this anime can get you. So do check out this heart wrenching show that has somehow excelled in its script, characters, art and soundtrack beautifully. This show broke my heart into thousand pieces and then took those pieces and crushed them over again. EDIT (slight spoiler): I couldn't get over this show that I had to google how to. The protagonist is simply hypnotizing and mesmerizing and I never thought I could get this attached to a 2-D character. He is too perfect of a character to exist with his skills, but his past and his tragic story line justifies the existence of someone so beautiful. I literally fell in love with him.
