Kudos to Seema pahwa for making this film out of pins daan. Excellent cinema - non pretentious; Manoj pahwa - I love you - what a performance (article 15, mulk,)….you seem to be on a roll! Supriya Pathak as a sad confused and a newly minted widow trying to figure out her role, silence, helplessness, expectations as she watches the histrionics going on is amazing…..
The combination with Vinay Pathak and Ninad Kamat presents a stellar cast. Carefully chosen characters…..am not passing on the acts put up by Deepika Amin, saadiya Siddiqui….and all others… they were phenomenal too.
Excellent and understated acting; doesn’t seem like it’s an act that’s been put up….effortless! Seems like the entire unit was happily and emotionally invested in this. Everyone is in their respective skins. The bit about Naseeruddin Shah watching over the final ritual and the music score on that pulls a string in your heart immensely. If I had an LP I would scratched out Aaj ye bulawa and jo ghum hua Hai (Sapna sand - excellent) completely. Sagar Desai as well as the voices …thumbs up.
Immense talent in this film across all departments - casting, sets, dialogues, coatumes, direction ….aptly brought out.
The diversity of studios and the release platforms have certainly brought to the fore the hitherto glossed over talent that was forced to take up meaningless projects and roles as well as explore other dimensions to bring out creativity. Am sure all involved in the creation of this film have gone back home extremely satisfied and have redeemed themselves.
Seema pahwa take a bow; manoj pahwa is a rock star; Vinay Pathak and Ninad Kamat - more films please! Vikrant Massey - great to see you take up a wide variety (haseena dilruba, Mirzapur, this one, death in the gunj - thanks Konkana Sen sharma ….wow!)…need to see Jim sarbh, Pankaju kapur, Ratna pathak shah, Sudhir mishra, Ashutosh Rana - also rocking the ott platform just like Manoj Bajpeyi, Pankaj tripathi and others have!
Really nice to see actors like Konkana who have resisted giving into acts that their talent consciousness might ordinarily not have allowed….kudos. And so with Nasseruddin shah - at this stage in life he is now “giving” - your support to foster and bring to the fore and project good cinema.
