World on a Wire (Welt am Draht) has its place as a cinematic precursor to movies like Dark City (1998), The Thirteenth Floor (1999), The Matrix (1999), and The Cabin in the Woods (2011). While the show's obvious '70's bold fashion backdrop may not translate smoothly by today's aesthetic temperament, Fassbinder's work is still solidly delivered with smart angles and a distinct style for keeping an elegant tempo and pace that work together. Mystery and esoteric thrillers of this calibre are far and few, especially from that era. A worthwhile cinematic adventure.
