This another betrayal by someone who has come through Depression and who lectures on what Depressives should or shouldn't do in order to recover. He has some idea of what may or may not have helped him on his journey but he has absolutely no idea what will help me and the countless others who have gone through decades of Depression, having tried everything available but without an iota of progress. We now have to carry the weight of his utterances - others will say "look, here is a solution - why don't you get well" and we will die a little more inside knowing we have tried and failed many times. As I come to the end of my life I just wish there was someone out there with enough insight to write a decent book about Depression - one that supports us.
It is my view that he did not overcome or conquer Depression, rather, it went away - his methodologies are a delusion.
A broken leg does not get better by walking on it and depression does not get better by 'facing the fear and doing it anyway'. But, I accept I have no idea what I am talking about - I just wish Mr Haig would admit the same.
