Went in with very low expectations courtesy a horribly made trailer, and was pleasantly surprised by how well made the actual movie was
The story is not novel, the storytelling is, complemented by wonderfully written characters which were portrayed aptly on screen by Hooda, Kartik and Sara.
Now let me come to the primary issue of the movie. Imtiaz Ali, probably, thinks too highly of his audience. He chooses some significant aspects of the narrative to be through some quickly transitioning, often non verbal scenes and crafty dialogues. Can't blame casual movie goers for missing out on a few aspects and subsequently panning the film.
The characters, are real. Not cine-real, rather as real as you and me. The words they say, the way they say, are in congruence with the way the generations, which the actors are portraying, are.
Overall, the movie is worth a shot to anyone who is looking beyond a slapstick, mushy rom-com this weekend.
