A series that warranted my first ever review.
I really enjoyed this one to say the least. Reading reviews below, I'm partially annoyed by the comments of film reviews by the characters who played them or how they were portrayed based on the real life story. If you just take the essences of the series, I think it's beautiful poetic. Forget who directed, ignored who played who, and think about art. Bare with me here.
Yes I hated anna as a person in this movie, lies, deceit, fraud, etc. Even to end, I find myself feeling sorry for her, date I might say even care about her. Perhaps deep down she's never been truely cared for and money was the only way she knew how. It's borderline inspirational, the raw passion is overwhelming (despite the way it was achieved) embodies the dangers and power of ideology. Sure some parts were shallow, like the glamor, fame, all typical of the New York dream. Anna's character development is confusing and complex, or she just simply a broken girl with a dream. It left me in frustration and confusion, like there needed to be more, but somehow I can't stop feeling like it really doesnt matter.
Just like art.. my favorite pieces are the ones brings out conflict with myself in, how I feel about it. And this was a wonderful piece. It resonates and brings into light the realities of high society, the conflicts of many lower end SES groups, and they are all tied into a sense of belonging. And this was exciting piece to watch.
