Truly awful film. So bad I’m inspired to write a rare review. Firstly, bravo to Linda Cardellini, wonderful performance, you’re a star! However....I love Tom Hardy so I wish he hadn’t savaged the film like this. He portrayed Capone as so physically and emotionally debilitated that it was totally impossible to connect with the story. This is bad acting turned up to 11. Even with the detailed cascade of moral-torture hallucinations and memories the film lacks any depth. How is that even possible?? It’s so boring and superficial that I’m surprised it was released. That’s really saying something as I’m a huge fan of the idea, the subject, the film makers. I waited patiently for the movie to start the whole time. Total, total disaster that should never have left the edit suite.
