As an anime lover I know that live action adaptations have had a history of going poorly. However I'm so glad that One Piece broke the cycle. I've wanted to get into the show for a while, but the anime felt very intimidating with its 1000 episodes. The only complaints I have with this live action adaptation is some moments in combat feel obviously scripted/staged. Like the shark men jumping out of the water, they're obviously on a harness system pulling them up. And occasionally a character says something that doesn't fit the current tone. Again, these issues are pretty scattered throughout the show, but it's when they become more common that these live action adaptations begin producing that certain type of cringe that only comes from making real people do anime diologue/poses. Hoping to see the writers fix this in season 2 but honestly those are the only issues I have with the show.
