WOW. WHAT. AN. EXPERIENCE. In my opinion, their best album of all time.
I got into Fall Out Boy in my freshman year of high school back in 2016, so I was late to the party of FOB fans for sure. But, I became entranced by Patrick's unique vocals and the overall sound of the band. Being 20 now and having listened to nearly every FOB song, I can say that this is album is just fantastic; words cannot describe it. This band has helped me through depressing episodes and the most joyous moments, as well as being played in the back of my head during cross country races, hyping me up and encouraging me to keep going, and that I could do it. I will always be a fan and will miss them dearly when they're gone. I'll take their songs with me to my grave. (get the reference? Too cheesy? Sorry.)
The sound production of this album is something out of this world, and really immerses you in the spirit of each song and the album as a whole. Patrick's vocals, Pete's vocal inserts, combined with Andy's drums and Joe on the guitar make for an extraordinary, pleasing experience for the ears. Everything is beautifully put together, and the song transitions are well placed and sound great. This album leads you through one hell of a ride like you've never experienced, and the hate that it got because of its predecessor is sad, as it truly is a masterpiece of its time. The buildup to the release of this album is something I wish I had been old enough to experience, as the promotional teaser album they released with Panic, Gym Class Heroes and other artists was really cool to hear. I can only imagine the feeling of joy; it's the late 2000s, a new generation was growing up, the first Black President was elected, and this album was slated to come out by the end of the year. The modern sound of the album doesn't leave behind the sound of Fall Out boy, and balance each other out quite well. The collab with Brendon Urie in 20 Dollar and What A Catch was so cool for fans who listened to the emo trinity! Folie a Deux is a work of art that is near perfect and nobody will ever convince me otherwise. Live on, FOB!! (and maybe come out with new music soon? Please? We miss you!)
