This is not just a great superhero movie -- it is a great movie, period. Think "Chinatown" mixed with "Se7en", set in a decrepit, corrupt Gotham. The plot, while long, is complex yet interesting, and Paul Dano as the Riddler gives one of the most terrifying and original portrayals of a villain in any "superhero" movie ever. It's also the first "Batman" film that really allows its hero to shine as the main character, without wasting time on other backstories or irrelevant side plots. Gotham feels like a living, breathing city, and there are consequences for every action that occurs in the story. Must watch
