Really good acting, a much better plot than most films these days. Original, addicting but also the most stressful situations making for a nail biting experience you can’t look away from.
I think this was really good material. There are a few plot holes and dialogue that was uncomfortable and made more sense for the time period it represented, but nothing important was left out and I am not someone who needs to be bored with every little logistic. I felt like I could reasonably understand that grace was someone Conrad became close with because she was his neighbor and I didn’t necessarily need to know exactly how they got to the bridge.
The emphasis is on emotion and it reminds me of a fast moving literary fiction novel which was really enjoyable.
To the people criticizing graces character for her grieving process, it’s different for everyone. And acting out, feelings coming in waves, searching for dopamine through instant gratification, not fully processing it and it hitting like a ton of bricks at random times, etc is very common. So I thought it was handled honestly and realistically. I felt like her vulnerability in that time made her relationship with Conrad even more realistic.
I think the one star reviews are from people who this kinda thing just isn’t their taste. I love a good emotional, drama that explores the human condition. And I love contemporary fiction and lit fic that has a more poetic feel so this was right up my alley. And so impressive for an indie film as well. It easily competes with mainstream movies and is better than anything I’ve seen recently with im assuming a larger budget.
