"Succession in the outback"? More like Home and Away in the outback.
Pros: Features an excellent cast who performed well considering the script they were given; the cinematography is on point with stunnings locations; well edited.
Cons: The story is slow; none of the characters have any depth; and the script is absolutely woeful.
What ruined this series the most though was the exhastingly overdone musical score. Every moment is accompanied by the same nasty chords telling you how you should be feeling about each scene. Okay Zimmer, we get it. Perhaps next time you could try letting the show breathe a little?
The absence of music is what makes your music impactful when the timing is right, otherwise we all get fatigued and feel like we're watching a daytime soap (if anyone doesn't believe me, go and skip through scenes and you'll notice how much music there is - it is mental).
This had potential to lift the bar for Australian cinema, instead, it's magnified many of our local industry's infrastructural shortcomings.
