2020 has brought two of the finest Regency Romance I have ever seen. First, there was Austin's Sanditon, cut short mid-story without any signs of a Season 2.
Then Bridgerton arrived, courtesy of Ms. Quinn's Lady Whistledown series about the handsome, wealthy, and alphabetically-named Bridgertons. The mysterious Lady Whistledown reports on the foibles, fancies, and finest moments of the London upper class.
There are highs and lows, as a Duke, determined not to wed, runs across the eldest female Bridgerton, Daphne, who is finding her voice and mettle. Add in richly-drawn friends, family, and members of a re-imagined Regency period, and you'll find gorgeously presented eight-course meal that will fill you to the brim with delicacies, whilst leaving you clamoring for more.
I only hope Netflix picks Bridgerton up for many, many more seasons to come.
