I've been reading the book from long back. Mesmerized by the velocity of the prose, shades of human character, gripping narration. I expected the screen play to take much lenience and liberty. But I was pleased to be wrong. The movie stuck to the original. Even the conversation was as in original. Casting is top notch. Though I'm not karthi enthusiast, truth be told, he has done justice to the flamboyant vandhiyathevan role. So is thrisha as kundhavai, graceful, cunning and coy. Sarath and parthiban the deadly siblings are apt. Prakash Raj thrives in a controlled mature role of regality. Indomitable Vikram as adhithya karikala brings out the agony, helplessness, self-destructive anger, guilt and troubled mind of the charector. Casting coup is Aish as Nandhini and Mandhakini. She is stunning in the role of Nandhini. Can't wait for the part 2. Music by Rahman is classy. The amount of talent and hardwork funnelled in this venture is unimaginable. Well done team ponniyin Selvan. I strongly recommend this movie for all sensible movie lovers. Five stars.
