Simply stupendous. Naked natural dialogues which ignore the lack of punctuation and prissy grammatical conventions, utterly raw violent incidents in a lovingly described journey by unpretentious characters in a bleak, expertly familiar landscape, peppered with random, simple philosophising, this is a gargantuan novel which I confess left me physically shaken. Not to be overlooked or forgotten.

Outraged and outrageous.The apocalyptic horror is spiced with genuinely laugh-out dark humour. I am unconvinced that chapters of names constitutes literature, though, as the author's rage about racial injustice takes over. Masterpiece? No. Shocking and sometimes funny? Yes.
