An overall good if not amazing film. The biggest positive I can give this film is I can say it tried. The voice actors, especially Luke Evans as Scrooge give fantastic performances and the ghost of Christmas past is a really stand out. There were good add on's to the story that both lead to heartfelt emotional beats and really help flesh out Scrooges character. The animation of a lot of the magic in the movie is both beautiful and extremely innovative. It was truly breathtaking and you can see where the animation budget went on this movie.
Which leads me into my cons of the film. The human character models while not bad do look dated. At first I chalked this up to a stylistic choice and was prepared to be slightly distracted but oaky with but then we see the in-depth detail that they give the ghosts... This made me realize they purposefully skimped on human character models so they could blow the budget the other areas I've talked about above. While like I said the models aren't ugly they definitely feel from the early 2010 era and pulled me out of the film several times. The other down side is unfortunately the music. Luke Evans is fantastic in every song and you can tell he is giving the best he can with what's he was given but I found the writing and music of most of the songs to be uninspired all the way to cringy. The huge exception is the song "Later never comes" which is fantastic.
All in all I had fun with the film and would probably watch it again but it falls short of being a new Christmas Classic. 7.5/10
