Not a patch on the original . The snowman (1982), due to the powerful emotional score, has me welled up from the start. There is something magical about the original snowman , which I conclude must be the music. After watching the snowman and snow dog for the first time today, all I can say is that Howard Blake is hugely missed in this (he composed the original music) and it certainly shows as the music is so poor in this(what on earth is that music in the middle of the film when they are flying?). The animation is the exactly the same and still beautiful, however I dropped marks as it used cgi which I didn’t like. And I obviously dropped further marks due to the rubbish musical score. Howard Blake did the right thing staying away as The Snowman (1982) is perfect but the snowman and snowdog, is just a pretty average film . I didn’t even cry at the end of this one . 2 stars for The Snowman and snowdog, and they are lucky to get that.

Awful, awful,awful. I was 12 when I saw the original and the original still makes me both cry and laugh. This 2019 remake not only lacks Mathew Broderick, Whoopi Goldberg, the original actress that played nala , Jeremy irons and Rowan Atkinson, it lacks warmth, charm , emotion and heart. The script is different to the original too. If I were to give a score out if ten it would be 2. The only 2 good things about this film.are the musical score and James Earl jones And why on earth are Timon and pumbaa as camp as a row of tents? Extremely disappointed but not surprised this is rubbish. If you want to watch a classic, watch the 1994 original and give this a wide berth.
