The show seems to be more about two people who find similarity at a childhood level rather than as adults. They're mismatched in their current form, and have to revert to connect. An unfortunate statement of the truth about so many who don't work out their neuroses...ideally, they would replace old, childish reactionary behaviors with contemporary mature ones. Instead, they continually step back in their humor, drug use, sexuality, Etc. to try to make wrong things right, never Illuminating or confronting the core issues from there past. Overall, boring and unbelievable characterizations, especially Gus.
