Loved the special effects but the story line seemed jumbled and the attempts at humor by some of the cast were embarrassing. The Rocks performance held the movie together. Some scenes seemed like a parody when should have been more triumphal or serious. One example is the kid riding his skateboard in slow motion rounding a corner leading a group of villagers rising up to the challenge just looked silly. Another scene included Pierce Brosnan (an exceptional actor) bidding farewell that looked comedic and amateurish. I blame the director for most of the failings but the writers deserve some of that critique too. Overall have a 2 star mostly because of the Rock!
