The film is based on a 1977 book by Graham Masterton, for reasons best known to the filmmakers the plot and location was changed for the movie,the book plot revolved around Dutch settlers and a young woman's nightmares which are linked to a growth on her neck which eventually sports a 300 year old medicine man The movie throws all that out for something far simpler Tony Curtis plays the main part very well,assisted by Susan Strasberg ,the script however is very poor coupled with bad special effects.I would recommend you read the book as it's far superior to the film.
