I forced myself to watch this because of Taxi Driver, but the movie just seemed sadistic, first torturing us with a painfully slow story and ridiculous characters who seem to have no motivation except misplaced sex drives. It took me weeks to finish this movie and I wish I'd never seen it. I'm sure Ethan Hawke wishes he never saw this screen play.
