This is, and has been for a long time, my favorite book. (And I'm a bookworm, so that says a lot.) I never thought picking a favorite would be possibly, until I read this. It's mostly clean and has very little spice (there's a couple makeout scenes but nothing really intense or suggestive) which is really hard to find at this point. I'm not usually a fan of love triangles but this is a TOTALLY different kinda thing and that really intrigued me. The characters are very well fleshed out, to the extent that if I'm feeling lonely I'll turn up the audiobook and drift off into good company. I think it really digs deep into the flaws of human nature, which is great bc so many books want their love interests to be perfect and their friends to always be nice. It also leans heavily on how it feels to be a soft soul in a hard world, which I relate to on a very real level because I struggle with BPD. I have always been more sensitive than the people around me, so this book made me feel seen and understood even though it's fiction. Also, Ian O'Shea is marriage goals and even tho I'm into brown eyes, I would totally marry him instantly if I was in Wanda's shoes. That's all I'm saying. ;)
100/10, I listen to it on repeat and beg you to join me in the heartbreaking epic joyride that is a realistic alien invasion inter-species love triangle romance thriller. <3
Oh yeah and the movie - there's sooo much missing, especially the best quotes, but the scene in the field makes it still worth watching. And Ian in general is just... I have no words.
